Amazon seller news · Fees · Announced 19 October 2026
Announced by Amazon on 19 October 2026. The extra charge on fulfilment fees goes up in the middle of peak season, so some November settlements will carry two rates.
Last updated: 21 October 2026
In brief: Amazon's fuel surcharge increase for 2026 takes the extra charge on fulfilment fees from 1.5% to 2%. Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA) moves to the new rate on 2 November 2026 in the UK and nine EU stores. Multi-Channel Fulfilment (MCF) follows on 19 November 2026. Amazon puts the average rise at about 2p (2 euro cents) per unit, worked out on the fulfilment fee rather than your selling price.
| Service | Rate today | New rate | Change date | Stores |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| FBA | 1.5% (since 17 April 2026) | 2% | 2 November 2026 | UK, Ireland, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Netherlands, Poland, Sweden |
| MCF | 1.5% (since 2 May 2026) | 2% | 19 November 2026 | UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain |
The fuel and logistics surcharge is a percentage Amazon adds to each unit's fulfilment fee. Amazon first added it in April, and our article on the original 1.5% surcharge covers that change. Amazon gives no end date for the new rate and says it will keep it under review.
The timing matters. The festive peak fulfilment fee runs from 15 October 2026 to 14 January 2027 (see peak season 2026 fees). Amazon's July peak notice said the surcharge is charged on top of that fee. The October notice doesn't change this, so expect the 2% rate to apply to peak fees too. Confirm it in your Fee Preview report.
A UK seller ships 2,500 FBA units a month at an average fulfilment fee of £3.40.
UK VAT at 20% is added to Amazon's fees for UK sellers, so the £170 carries £34 of VAT, reclaimable if you're VAT-registered.
The surcharge is part of the fulfilment fee, so it normally belongs in the same FBA fees account. Keeping it there means your fee ratios stay comparable before and after November.
A settlement that spans 2 November will mix units at 1.5% and 2%. Amazon doesn't say whether the order date or the shipment date decides the rate, so check the fee lines around that date. If you use MCF as well, FBA will be at 2% while MCF is still at 1.5% from 2 to 18 November. When a payout looks a few pounds out, work through Amazon settlement reconciliation before assuming an error.
For UK sellers, the surcharge carries the same 20% VAT as the fulfilment fee it sits on. See reclaiming VAT on Amazon seller fees. For fees on EU stores, take the VAT treatment from Amazon's invoice.
For UK parcels and envelopes, fulfilment cost per unit rises twice in Q4: the peak fee from 15 October, then the higher surcharge from 2 November. When you compare Q4 2026 with last year or with October, note both changes so they aren't read as a pricing or volume problem.
If MCF ships orders from your own website or another marketplace, those orders cost more from 19 November. Allocate the extra to that channel's cost of sales, not to your Amazon sales.
Check the per-unit effect in the Revenue Calculator or the Fee Preview report before 2 November. Heavy and bulky items pay the most in pounds, because the rate applies to a larger fee. Review prices on high-volume, low-margin lines.
TrueBooks imports each settlement automatically and posts every fee line to the right account with the right UK VAT. Each settlement still matches the bank deposit. Its analytics show fee ratios by marketplace, so the November step is easy to spot. See how settlements post to Xero.
