Short answer: A2X and Link My Books do the same core job — turning Amazon payouts into detailed entries in your accounting software. A2X is the more established option with the widest ledger support (Xero, QuickBooks Online, Sage, NetSuite) and higher prices. Link My Books is usually cheaper, supports more sales channels, and works with Xero and QuickBooks Online. If you are a UK seller who only sells on Amazon and uses Xero, TrueBooks costs less than either and focuses entirely on UK VAT accuracy.

TrueBooks is for a narrower but common case: a UK business that sells on Amazon and keeps its books in Xero. Because it does only that, it can go deeper on UK VAT — Marketplace Facilitator VAT, zero-rated exports, the August 2024 move of Amazon's UK billing from Luxembourg to its UK branch, and a VAT view by HMRC box. It bills in pounds from £9.99/month + VAT and includes a migration tool so you can move from A2X or Link My Books without posting old settlements twice. It doesn't yet support QuickBooks or channels other than Amazon.

Neither is better for everyone. A2X suits businesses that need several ledgers (Xero, QuickBooks Online, Sage, NetSuite) or accounting firms managing many clients. Link My Books suits sellers on Xero or QuickBooks Online who sell across several marketplaces and want lower pricing. If you only sell on Amazon and use Xero in the UK, TrueBooks is a cheaper, VAT-focused third option.

Switching between any two connectors needs care so settlements already in Xero aren't posted again.
