Compliance changes rarely change a number on your settlement directly, but they often change what Amazon charges you for, or what you have to be able to evidence at year end. These are the policy and compliance announcements we've covered, newest first.
- Amazon changes how the UK EPR Pay on Behalf fee is charged
From September 2026 the £20 service fee is charged within 30 days rather than held in reserve, and invoiced separately from eco-contributions.

- Amazon UK EPR: WEEE and packaging rules for sellers
UK EPR covers packaging (since January 2025) and electrical goods (since August 2025). Amazon pays for overseas sellers and deducts it; UK sellers handle their own.

- Amazon merges and tightens its EPR Pay on Behalf rules (UK, France, Spain)
From 27 August 2025, Amazon could reserve EPR fees and charge recalculated amounts at any time for UK, Spanish and French sales.

- Germany's single-use plastics levy: Amazon.de requires DIVID registration from 2025
From 1 January 2025, single-use plastic products on Amazon.de needed a DIVID registration number, with yearly reporting and a levy; non-compliant listings were deactivated.

- UK packaging EPR arrives on Amazon.co.uk with Pay on Behalf for overseas sellers
From 2024, non-UK sellers of packaged products on Amazon.co.uk were auto-enrolled in EPR Pay on Behalf; Amazon could charge eco-contributions from 1 April 2024.

- The EU Batteries Regulation on Amazon: Responsible Person and EPR registration
Batteries sold in the EU needed an EU Responsible Person (FBA, by 18 August 2024) and EPR registration numbers (by 18 August 2025), or offers were deactivated.

- Spain's packaging EPR on Amazon.es, and paid EPR services for Spain and Austria
Sellers on Amazon.es not established in Spain needed a packaging registration number by 31 December 2023, or Amazon paid eco-contributions for them and deducted them plus a fee.

- France's EPR rules on Amazon: UINs, eco-contributions and Pay on Behalf
Without a valid French EPR UIN per category, Amazon enrols you in Pay on Behalf and deducts eco-contributions (plus a service fee from 2024) from your account.

- Germany's WEEE rules: Amazon requires registration numbers for electrical goods
From 1 July 2023, electrical goods sold in Germany needed a valid WEEE registration number per brand and device type; Amazon deactivated non-compliant listings.

- Germany's packaging EPR: Amazon requires a LUCID number from July 2022
From July 2022, sellers on Amazon.de needed a German LUCID packaging registration; Amazon blocked non-compliant listings from 15 June 2022.
