Announced by Amazon on 14 April 2025, effective 15 May 2025. Cheaper envelopes, unchanged parcels and a simpler — slightly dearer — oversize table.

Historical update: this article covers an Amazon announcement from 14 April 2025. Amazon's fees, rules and programmes may have changed since — check Seller Central for the current position before acting on it.

In brief: Amazon MCF fees changed again for 2025. Multi-Channel Fulfilment is Amazon's service for shipping orders from your FBA stock that were sold somewhere else — your own website, eBay, Shopify and so on. From 15 May 2025 Amazon reshaped the UK MCF price list: a new Light Envelope tier from 20g, envelope rates down about 2.7% on average, small and standard parcel rates unchanged, and the oversize table cut from 27 bands to 12, which on average made oversize about 2.8% dearer.

What changed in MCF fees for 2025

Size Change from 15 May 2025
Envelopes New Light Envelope tier (from 20g); envelope rates down about 2.7% on average; multi-unit orders in the 960g extra-large envelope band up to 12% cheaper
Small and standard parcels Rates held, except a reduction on the 3.9kg small-parcel band
Oversize 27 bands replaced by 12, priced as a base rate plus a charge per extra kilogram; about 2.8% dearer on average

Who wins and who pays more

Sellers shipping small, light items through MCF — accessories, cosmetics, documents — mostly saved. Sellers shipping bulky items through MCF faced a small rise, and should recheck any fixed shipping charge they pass on to customers on other channels.

A worked example

A seller fulfils 800 envelope-sized Shopify orders a month through MCF at an average fee of £3.20. A 2.7% cut saves about 9p each — roughly £70 a month. If the same seller also ships 100 oversize orders at £12, a 2.8% rise costs about £34 a month more.

What it means for your bookkeeping

  • MCF costs belong to the channel that made the sale. An MCF fee is incurred because of a non-Amazon sale, so for channel profitability it should be matched to that channel's sales, not Amazon's. Many sellers keep a separate "MCF fulfilment" account for this reason.

  • They still arrive through Amazon. MCF fees are charged to your Amazon seller account and appear in Amazon settlements, which can make Amazon look less profitable than it is unless you separate them.

  • UK VAT applies. For UK sellers, MCF fees carry 20% UK VAT (Amazon's UK branch has billed fees with VAT since August 2024), reclaimable if you're VAT-registered.

  • Check your delivery pricing elsewhere. If you charge customers a flat delivery fee on your own site, oversize changes can quietly erode that margin.

  • Where it shows up. MCF fees are deducted from Amazon payouts even though the sale was elsewhere — see reconciling an Amazon settlement and Amazon FBA bookkeeping.

How TrueBooks helps

TrueBooks posts every fee line in your Amazon settlements — including fulfilment charges for orders from other channels — to the right account with UK VAT, so the true cost of MCF is visible in Xero. See the Amazon Xero integration.
