In brief: FBA New Selection was Amazon's incentive for sending new products into FBA. As promoted on 23 June 2022, each new-to-FBA ASIN got three months of storage at no charge plus no-cost removals during its first 180 days, both capped at a set number of units, with extra benefits for clothing, shoes and bags. Brand owners enrolled in Brand Registry also got a 5% rebate on sales of branded ASINs, applied against fulfilment fees. From 8 January 2024, the free-removal benefit covered liquidations rather than disposals.
| Benefit | Detail |
|---|---|
| Storage | Free monthly storage for 90 days (limited units) |
| Removals | Free for 180 days (limited units); from 8 January 2024 via FBA Liquidations, not disposal |
| Returns | Extra storage, removal and returns benefits for clothing, shoes and bags |
| Rebate | 5% of branded ASIN sales price, credited against fulfilment fees (Brand Registry only) |
Benefits applied automatically after enrolling, in every store where you had an active account, for any number of new parent ASINs.
A registered brand launches a £25 product and sells 800 units in its first months. The 5% rebate is worth £1,000 (800 × £25 × 5%), credited against its FBA fees. Add free storage on the launch stock, and the first quarter's fees are noticeably lower than for an established product.
Amazon relaunched the programme with different incentives in 2026 — see New Selection Programme 2026.
Rebates reduce fees. A rebate credited against fulfilment fees normally nets off against those fees, not income.
Free periods end. Storage costs start after 90 days, so a new product's margin falls as the incentives run out; budget for it.
Liquidations bring in cash. Liquidated stock is bought by a liquidator at wholesale prices; the proceeds and the stock written off both need recording.
VAT: fee credits reduce the fee and so the VAT on it.
Where it shows up. Rebates and waived fees appear inside the settlement — see reconciling an Amazon settlement.
TrueBooks posts fee credits and rebates from every settlement to Xero against the right accounts, with the correct UK VAT for their date. See the Amazon Xero integration.
