Amazon seller news · Fees
Announced by Amazon on 17 February 2026, effective 20 March 2026. It affects UK sellers who sell in the French, Italian or Spanish stores.
Last updated: 19 September 2026
In brief: the digital services fee is Amazon's way of passing on the digital services taxes some governments charge it. From 20 March 2026 Amazon bases the fee on the tax rate of the country where the sale happens. For a seller established in the UK, that means an extra 3% on selling fees and FBA fees for sales made in Amazon's France, Italy and Spain stores.
| Where your business is established | 3% applies to | For sales in |
|---|---|---|
| United Kingdom | Selling fees and FBA fees | France, Italy, Spain |
| Italy or Spain | Selling fees and FBA fees | UK, France |
| Anywhere else | Selling fees (all three) and FBA fees (France only) | France, Italy, Spain |
The fee is added on top of Amazon's fees, not your sale price. You can check it for a product in the Revenue Calculator in Seller Central.
A UK seller's Amazon.fr sales in a month generate €2,000 of referral fees and €1,500 of FBA fees. The digital services fee is 3% of €3,500: €105. Sales on Amazon.co.uk aren't covered by this change.
No action is needed for the fee to apply. It's worth rerunning the Revenue Calculator for your EU best-sellers and reviewing prices where margins are thin.
TrueBooks posts the digital services fee as its own line in each settlement, keeps every marketplace in its own currency, and shows profit by marketplace, so you can see the effect on your French, Italian and Spanish sales. See the Amazon Xero integration.
